Hardee Correctional, Bowling Green, Florida
On Saturday, March 18th we celebrated the day at Hardee Correctional, Bowling Green, Florida with a Returning Hearts Celebration!
It was a wonderful day of inmate fathers and their children reconnecting and enjoying being a family again, if just for a few hours.
The 49 inmate fathers and 115 kids had a blast playing an assortment of fun fair games, basketball, and inflatables games, including a human version of a childhood classic Hungry, Hungry Hippo. The fathers had a chance to talk with their children and share the changes in their lives and the Gospel was shared.
A local church led the Caregiver Program for the families that dropped the children off. The 56 attendees enjoyed great food and other activities.
A big thank you to the 88 volunteers! None of this could happen without you! Thank you for letting your love of God shine through to the families of Hardee Correctional!
Awana Lifeline is in partnership with God Behind Bars at Hardee. God Behind Bars leads the Malachi Dads program at the facility and together both ministries in conjunction with Oakwood Church, Tampa lead the Returning Hearts Celebration.
